CNESST Your single entry door for services in labor matters

Since January 1st, 2016 the Commission des normes du travail (CNT), the Commission de l’équité salariale (CES) and the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST), have merged into one, called the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé ET de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).

The CNESST is the new larger organization to which the Quebec government has entrusted the promotion of the rights and obligations of work. It ensures compliance with workers and employers in Quebec and provides employers and workers an integrated expertise in labor matters.

Among others, the new CNESST’s mission is to assure safety in workplace, compensation for employee’s victims of occupational injuries and to ensure their rehabilitation.

An occupational injury is an injury or a disease arising out of or in connection with an industrial accident or an occupational disease, including a recurrence, relapse or aggravation.
