Polyclinique Centre-Ville

Oral pathology

The specialty of oral and maxillofacial pathology is a medical and dental specialty that focuses on the clinical and microscopic diagnosis of lesions of the oral cavity, jaws and salivary glands. An oral pathologist is also interested in the management of primarily non-surgical lesions of the oral cavity as well as orofacial manifestations of systemic diseases.

Following a full clinical examination, the pathologist may decide to perform a biopsy that he will later analyze in his laboratory. Additional tests, such as a blood test, a scan or a magnetic resonance may also be required.

At the Polyclinique Centre-Ville we are present to support our patients with an oral pathology: a good data collection, a complete oral and physical examination, and even biopsy of the lesion, histopathological interpretation, treatment and proper monitoring.

Examples of oral diseases:

Leukoplakia

Leukoplakia is an adherent white plate and often painless. Leukoplakia can be a precancerous or cancerous lesion, and must be investigated.
