Therefore, thyroid anatomopathology is a discipline studying diseases of the structure and / or function of the thyroid, a gland that secretes hormones essential for the human metabolism.

Thyroid nodules, “bumps” visible or incidentally discovered during a neck examination by an ENT, your family doctor, or during a routine ultrasound, are very common in the general population and are mild in more than 90% of cases.

Larger nodules and nodules that have suspicious characteristics on ultrasound should be sampled to exclude malignancy or cancer.

Services offered at the Polyclinique Centre-Ville

At the Polyclinique Centre-Ville, we perform biopsies of thyroid nodules in the presence of a multidisciplinary team: an endocrinologist specialized in thyroid pathology which performs biopsy of nodules under ultrasound guidance in the presence of a specialized pathologist which examines, in your presence, the tissue taken under ultrasound guidance on site, confirms the quality of the sample and established a preliminary diagnosis.

This approach in one visit, offers a fast and comprehensive patients care by a multidisciplinary team, providing high quality care.

Your referring physician will receive within 24 hours a preliminary report pending the final report.
